The Frauenkirche was built by George Bähr between 1726 and 1743. The dome, which became known as the "Stone Bell", was not only the crowning glory of the city skyline, but also an architectural challenge.
After the air raid on Dresden on 13 February 1945, the Frauenkirche stood for exactly one day - and then collapsed because the sandstone could not withstand the high temperatures.
After the fall of communism, the opportunity arose to rebuild the Frauenkirche, which was completed in 2005 with the consecration. Since then, the Frauenkirche has brought the city spectacular numbers of visitors and the Neumarkt, which was also rebuilt around it, has once again become a central square in the city.
The QF Passage at the Frauenkirche - Neumarkt 2 - has been home to Dresden Information with a large visitor centre since 2013.
