In September 1913, the new Schauspielhaus at the Zwinger opened in Dresden, a building that combines courtly representation with bourgeois simplicity and is considered "Germany's first bourgeois court theatre". It is one of two venues of the Staatsschauspiel Dresden and has an auditorium renovated according to historical models with two tiers and almost 800 seats.

The Kleine Haus in Dresden's Neustadt is the second stage of the Staatsschauspiel Dresden and has a hall for 370 spectators, a studio stage with 100 seats and a workshop stage for 150 spectators.
